"Rominer Lovewell (1853 - 1932) was active/lived in Massachusetts. Rominer Lovewell is known for Sailing ship portrait paintings. Birth place: Gardner, MA. Death place: Everett, MA. Profession: Marine painter, etcher. Studied: Richardson's Sch. Art, Boston, 1872-73; W.A. Titcombe, 1874. Exhibited: NY Etching Club, 1882, 1884-86; Boston Etching Club; Boston AC, 1882, 1885, 1892; Columbian Expo, Chicago, 1893 (etchings); PAFA Ann., 1883-85, 1887; Mystic Seaport, 1981, traveled to Mariners' Mus. (retrospective); Peabody Mus., Salem. Comments: A painter of the North Shore area and particularly the Boston waterfront, 1875-1925. He also painted in Marblehead, Nahant (where he summered), Gloucester, and other Cape Ann towns. His most productive period was 1882-93. For 34 years, he was listed in the Chelsea (MA) directories as a marine painter, but throughout his art career he had to support himself as a machinist in his father"s shop there." (askART)
