Rare vintage Jonathan Christie 1990s oversized decanter / bottle. Crafted of thick hand-blown ruby-red art glass featuring a teardrop /heart-shaped bottle and stopper capped with a twisting flame. Resembles the Christian Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Jonathan Christie was born in Scotland in 1968 and died in 2013. He was known to be one of the most skilled hot glass sculptors in the US, where he moved when he was 12. He spent much of his time in New York, New Orleans, and Cincinnati. This piece was made in collaboration with artist Joel Otterson circa 1990s for a piece titled Divine Intervention. He also collaborated with close friend and artist James Mongrain and worked with Dale Chihuly from 2007-2010.
Condition
Good Overall - Gentle wear; stopper doesn't fit properly; missing stand, doesn't stand up without a base as the bottom pontil is not polished flat and comes to a point.
