"Christian Rost (?- 1907) was active/lived in New York / England, Germany. An engraver in New York City beginning circa 1860 when he arrived in America, Christian Rost had been in London, where in about 1851, he designed and engraved illustrations for a book on the Crystal Palace exhibition. He had studied in both Paris and London. Some time after his move to New York City he went to work for the American Bank Note Company. He was the father of artist Ernest Christian Rost." (askART)
