This 1930s-1940s Mersman parlor table features a distinctive scalloped, serpentine "turtle-top" design crafted from rich walnut. The table's surface highlights the manufacturing expertise of the era, showcasing vibrant, sunburst-patterned walnut veneers on the outer border, which are separated from the center by a thin, delicate string inlay. Inside this rectangular border lies an intricate, geometric book-matched wood inlay arranged in a diagonal chevron motif that converges into a sharp central "X" pattern to accent the contrasting wood grains. Reflecting the popular traditional revival styles produced by the Mersman company during the mid-20th century, the table stands on heavily turned, spindled legs connected by a low, H-shaped stretcher system with a central decorative finial.
