This antique blue and white transferware commemorative plate is a historical souvenir piece dedicated to the Battle of Gettysburg, manufactured between 1890 and 1911 by F. Winkle & Co. at the Colonial Pottery works in Staffordshire, England. The central medallion illustrates a detailed landscape scene titled "General Meade's Headquarters," depicting the iconic Leister House framed by a picket fence under a softly cloud-filled sky, overlaid with a portrait of Union Major General George Meade. Encircling this central image is a wide, ornate border of densely packed oak leaves and acorns, which features four additional portrait cartouches highlighting key military commanders from both sides of the Civil War: Union Generals Winfield Scott Hancock and Henry Warner Slocum, alongside Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and James Longstreet. The top inner curve of the plate prominently features the arched title "Souvenir of Gettysburg," while the reverse side bears Winkle's underglaze blue ribbon scroll mark reading "SEMI-PORCELAIN / ENGLAND / F.
