This charming vintage Japanese Satsuma-style porcelain ginger jar features a classic ovoid body topped with a matching domed lid, showcasing a vibrant and colorful decorative design. Set against a deep, striking royal blue ground, the jar is adorned with hand-painted polychrome enamel flowers including plum blossoms and chrysanthemums in shades of pink, orange, and yellow.
The focal point of the body consists of four distinct white-ground cartouche windows framing timeless mythical and scenic motifs: a narrative scene of two women (bijin) in traditional kimonos, a winding imperial dragon, a scenic lakeside landscape featuring pagodas and Mount Fuji, and a soaring mythical phoenix.
