This beautiful antique Japanese Imari porcelain dish features a striking diamond-shaped (lozenge) form, intricately hand-painted in a traditional Sometsuke cobalt blue, iron-red, and gilded color palette. The centerpiece of the well showcases a stylized interlocking ribbon design meticulously detailed with iron-red diaper patterns and gold gilt accents framing a central mon-style floral emblem, while the fluted, scalloped rim is bordered by a deep navy blue ground adorned with vibrant orange chrysanthemums and delicate gold vinework. The underside is equally compelling, revealing a clean, unglazed circular foot rim and sloping outer walls decorated with delicate, hand-painted underglaze cobalt blue Takaramono (precious treasure motifs), including a Takarabako (treasure chest/scroll weight), a Kakure-mino (magic raincoat of protection), and a flaming Hoju (sacred wish-granting jewel). Organic brush strokes, cobalt pigment bleeding, and traditional kiln pinholes/iron spots point to late Edo to Meiji period Arita artisan craftsmanship, making this a stellar addition to any fine Asian antiquities collection.
