Description

Authentic vintage Skookum "Bully Good" Indian doll features a detailed mother figure carrying a small papoose baby strapped to her back, complete with excellent physical labels and family provenance. The standing doll is constructed with a signature hidden inner support structure, clothed in a vibrant orange tunic with matching polka-dot trousers, and wrapped tightly in a thick, fringeless wool plaid trade blanket showcasing bold white, orange, and brown stripes. The mother's molded composition face features classic side-glancing painted eyes and long black fiber braids under a colorful purple and yellow feathered headdress, while the bottom of her right boot retains the original, crisp oval paper trademark sticker reading "SKOOKUM (BULLY GOOD) INDIAN U.S.A. PATENTED". Accompanying handwritten note that reads, "Given to Linda Meissner Kegler when 5 yrs old 1939. Given by Grandma & Grandpa Odell," which firmly anchors this beautifully preserved item to the late 1930s.
