Description
Vintage 1995 limited edition black and white woodblock print titled "Wright Night Snow" by Thomas B. Schorgl. Depicts the façade of the replica building of the Wright Cycle Company at Carillon Historical Park, shrouded in falling snow. Pencil signed and numbered 127/450 along the lower edge. Beveled black wood frame; pale grey mat.
"Wright Night Snow - The Wright Cycle Shop in Carillon Historical Park is a replica of the Wright brothers’ bicycle shop originally located at 1127 W. Third Street in Dayton. Here Wilbur and Orville practiced all three of their careers: printing, bicycle making, and the design and building of their earliest gliders and airplanes. It was in this shop that the brothers performed the pioneering wind tunnel experiments so critical to their later success. The shop is now located at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. Designer / printmaker Thomas B. Schorgl created and donated the woodcut used to create this limited edition print. The Park's volunteer printer produced the print using the historic equipment in the 1930s print shop.
