Description

Late 20th century offset lithograph print of “Pinniped Picnic” Jane Mason Burke, showing a whimsical seafood picnic on the beach being enjoyed by an array of anthropomorphized sea animals – an otter, walrus, seal and sea lion. Circa 1985.

A California native, Jane Mason Burke thinks she was born with a crayon in her hand! She was an Artist from a young age having her early drawings and paintings on display in the Principal's Office at Brentwood Elementary School in the 1940's and 50's. She began her Art Career in earnest in Santa Barbara in the 1980's and became a well-known Artist showing mainly in Carmel, CA at First Impressions Gallery. Her hand-colored etchings of anthropomorphic animals, (animals in human situations) became world famous and her poster of ""Bearly Ballet"" sold many thousands of copies around the world. She retired from etchings early in this new century because of the toxic nature of the substances used in the copper etching process. Now she has begun a new venture into Portraits in Oils...and is loving it.
