Description

Ferdinand I of Aragon (1475-1504) Portrait

#18385MS

A beautiful oil painting of Ferdinand II of Aragon. Circa 19th century. Attributed to Claudio Lorenzale Sugranes (1815-1889) of Spain. Known for painting in the mid to late 19th century. Ferdinand is best known for his role in inaugurating the discovery of the New World as he and Isabella sponsored Christopher Columbus's first voyage. A half bust portrait showing him in velvet jacket with fur collar. Framed in wood and painted gold. The canvas shows wear consistent with its age. A great addition to any collection.
