Mid-Century Justa Carved Buffalo Horn Bird Figurine on Wood Base MCM Sculpture

Description

This Justa signed folk art sculpture is a finely detailed depiction of a bird perched on an organic branch, beautifully utilizing the natural color transitions of water buffalo horn. The upper portion is meticulously carved into a realistic bird figurine with a smooth, pointed beak, a distinct red glass-bead eye, and delicate incised cross-hatching that mimics the soft texture of layered wing feathers. The bird rests on a tapered horn base that seamlessly transitions from a translucent, creamy amber tone down into a dark, marbled chocolate brown. Carved in low relief against this dark background is an elegant, pale leafy branch stretching upward. Just below the leaves, the artisan signature "JUSTA" is cleanly etched into the horn material. The entire composition is securely mounted onto a custom-fit, multi-tiered hardwood pedestal featuring a rich reddish-brown finish and subtle scalloped detailing along the lower rim.
