John Shorter was an influential Australian businessman and importer. Commonly known as "Shorters", he served as the primary Australasian trade agent for major British pottery brands, including Royal Doulton. This character jug was modeled by designer William K. Harper. It was specially commissioned in 1990 by the Character and Toby Jug Collectors Society of Australia to celebrate their 10th anniversary. It was issued as a limited edition of only 1,500 pieces
