Vintage Royal Doulton 7004 porcelain character jug pitcher of Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac. Modelled by David Biggs, Circa 1995. Features a black hat with a white plume, a prominent nose, a maroon jacket, a white collar, and a sword-shaped handle accented with a red heart.
Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac (1619–1655) was a French novelist, playwright, and bold duelist of the 17th century. He is best known as the fictionalized hero of Edmond Rostand’s famous 1897 verse play, Cyrano de Bergerac. In the play, he is a brilliant poet and swordsman with a remarkably large nose. Believing his appearance makes him unlovable, he uses his poetic genius to help a handsome but tongue-tied friend woo Roxane, the woman they both secretly adore.
