This authentic vintage Smiths Enfield mechanical marine bulkhead clock is an exceptional find for nautical collectors and horology enthusiasts alike. Proudly manufactured in England, this industrial-grade timepiece is housed in a heavy, stepped cylindrical solid brass casing modeled after a classic ship's porthole. The cream-colored dial face features crisp, bold black Roman numerals, traditional spade-style hands, and a dedicated winding arbor positioned above the 6 o'clock mark. Powered by a robust mechanical 8-day timekeeping movement, the face is cleanly marked with "SMITHS ENFIELD 1911", "8 DAYS", and "MADE IN ENGLAND". For easy installation, the wide, integrated rear mounting flange features four pre-drilled perimeter holes designed for flush, secure attachment to a wall or ship bulkhead.
The clock retains its key original design features, including a heavy brass front bezel hinged on the left that swings wide open for effortless time-setting and winding. It comes complete with its original, detachable brass threaded thumb bolt that screws into the side to lock the porthole tightly shut. Internally, the two-plate brass gear movement is nested inside a protective cream-colored dust capsule to shield the mechanism from moisture and debris, showcasing clean motion work gearing and a heavy steel mainspring at the base. A textured metal internal rear-backing plate is also included. Proving its authenticity, the solid brass reverse backplate features a permanent stamped circular maker's seal reading "SMITHS ENFIELD 1911 MADE IN ENGLAND" alongside the distinct production serial number "029" stamped near the top right edge.
