Description
This antique Eastlake movement bed frame is expertly crafted from solid oak, showcasing a beautiful, prominent wood grain that perfectly complements the architectural and geometric design language of the late Victorian era (circa 1880–1890). Originally built as a standard full-size frame, it has been expertly modified to accommodate a modern queen-size mattress.
The commanding headboard features a prominent, stepped geometric crest rail centered by a rectangular panel with a delicately incised herringbone chevron pattern. Directly below, an elongated frieze panel displays an elegant, spoon-carved diamond-and-line motif, which transitions into a deeply chiseled band of repeating X-motifs bounded by semicircular chip-carvings. Flanking the top are out-swept corner ears embellished with stylized, fan-shaped fluting, sitting right above square corner blocks carved with a central X-and-dot emblem.
The main body of both the headboard and the lower-profile footboard is constructed from wide, horizontal oak planks. The footboard cleanly mirrors the aesthetics of the headboard, featuring a matching band of geometric chip-carvings along its upper rail and matching corner blocks. The entire structure is elevated on straight, square-profile corner posts accented with vertical incised lines, which attach to the extended queen-size conversion side rails to form a complete, structurally sound historic frame.
