Description
Exceptional antique Victorian dresser, circa 1880s. Showcasing stunning walnut burl veneers. The piece is crowned by a monumental, architectural mirror structure featuring highly intricate Eastlake-style relief carvings, incised geometric patterns, and stylized floral motifs across the top crest and side pilasters. The large, rectangular bevel-edged mirror is flanked by fluted supports and set above a carved wood panel with delicate starburst and rosette details.
The base of the dresser is fitted with a luxurious, original reddish-brown contoured marble top with a subtly bullnosed edge. Below the stone, the drawer configuration consists of two side-by-side glove drawers over two full-width graduated drawers. Each drawer front is highlighted by book-matched walnut burl panels that display an exceptionally rich, swirling grain pattern. The drawers are accented by central brass keyholes and adorned with original, heavy ornate brass drop-bail pulls mounted on highly decorative stamped backplates. Raised on a clean plinth base with molded trim, this grand piece serves as a striking example of High Victorian bedroom furniture.
