Description

This exceptional antique American chifferobe wardrobe, dating from the 1910s to the 1920s, is a masterclass in early 20th-century craftsmanship and spatial efficiency. Drawing inspiration from American Empire, Mission and Arts & Crafts styling. Constructed from premium quarter-sawn tiger oak, the piece showcases a striking, high-contrast horizontal grain pattern across the drawers that pairs beautifully with the vertical panels on the sides and main door. Designed as an asymmetric, multi-functional storage hub, the right side features a deep wardrobe section framed by recessed flat paneling. This section is optimized for hanging full-sized garments and retains its original heavy-duty telescoping steel garment trolley, which uses a wavy lower rail to space out hangers and glides forward for easy access.

The left side is an incredibly organized dressing station that begins with an upper vanity cabinet. Its door is fitted with a classic beveled glass mirror displaying exceptionally clean silvering, and it opens via an authentic brass push-button catch to reveal three distinct grooming cubbies. Directly below this cabinet rests a hidden, slide-out butler tray or dressing shelf that extends seamlessly to create a sturdy platform for staging jewelry, watches, or accessories. Underneath this retractable tray sits a comprehensive chest of drawers, starting with two small side-by-side jewelry drawers followed by five graduating, full-width clothing drawers. High-end period build quality is evident throughout, from the robust machine-cut dovetail joints and secondary hardwood interior walls to the original turned-wood knobs and intact metal keyhole escutcheons. The entire unit is structurally rock-solid, resting elegantly on stylized ogee scroll-cut feet, and its pristine historical integrity is officially verified by the factory ink stencil on the original wood backboard reading "CATALOGUE NO. 202.
