Description

This magnificent antique Golden Oak library table or executive parlor desk (circa 1890–1910) is masterfully crafted from premium solid oak with a light honey finish that beautifully highlights the shimmering, wide planks of quarter-sawn grain and cathedral patterns. The expansive rectangular tabletop is centered with a luxurious, flush-mounted white Carrara-style marble stone insert with elegant grey veining, framed by a crisp, mitered wooden border for a seamless dual-texture surface. Directly beneath the thick edge, the apron features a continuous, beautifully detailed band of low-relief carved palmette or stylized acanthus leaf medallions set into a bold, architectural convex molding.

The table stands on an incredibly rare and robust six-leg honeycomb base assembly composed of deeply carved, heavy ring-turned spool columns terminating in substantial ball feet. The base structure is reinforced by thick, serpentine-curved stretchers accented with decorative, raised wooden joinery button pegs along the top surface, all connecting into a central dual-rung ladder stretcher network. This exceptionally sturdy and visually striking turn-of-the-century statement piece is perfect as a library table, dining table, or parlor desk.
