This striking pair of vintage table lamps is crafted from octagonal, tin tôle tea caddy bodies finished in a heavily patinated, antiqued sage-green lacquer. Designed to replicate historic merchant canisters, the bases feature hand-painted numbers “2” and “7” on their sloping shoulders, set above asymmetrical Chinoiserie panels framed in elegant gold scrollwork. The central panels depict detailed illustrations of Chinese figures in traditional attire against an ochre backdrop. The bases rest securely on dark circular plinths and are fitted with polished cast-brass neck hardware and standard light sockets. Crowning the pair are cream-colored, cut-corner square bell lampshades, each uniquely secured at the apex by a decorative Chinese cash coin finial cast with late-Qing dynasty characters.
