Description

This four-drawer Victorian era chest is crafted from oak and ash wood, which is highly visible through the prominent, strong grain patterns running across its surfaces. Characteristic of the late 19th-century Eastlake movement, the dresser showcases a rectilinear silhouette accented by incised geometric carvings and stylized spoon carved floral motifs across the drawer fronts. Each drawer is flanked by brass ring pull handles and features a central diamond-shaped escutcheon surrounding the keyhole. Flanking the drawers are flat vertical pilasters, decorated at both the top and bottom with carved, abstract foliate details resembling stylized arrows or leaves. The piece stands on a flush, solid base with a smooth, overhang top that highlights its functional yet decorative oak craftsmanship. Circa 1880s
