Description

Vintage oil painting on burlap titled Infanta Margarita Teresa in a Blue Dress after Diego Velázquez.

Originally painted around 1659, this portrait depicts the eight-year-old daughter of King Philip IV of Spain in elaborate court attire. Velázquez is celebrated for his use of loose brushstrokes that appear coherent only from a distance, a technique well-demonstrated in the textures of the Infanta's dress. The original masterpiece is currently housed in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Austria.

Baroque gold scalloped foliate and acanthus resin frame.

Condition

Wear to frame, some resin loss; heavy crazing to canvas
