Description

A very large and impressive vintage resin coated oil painting titled A Sculpture Gallery in Rome at the Time of Agrippa (aka Augustus), after Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. The original was painted in 1867 and is currently held in the collection of the Montreal Museum of Fine Art.

This work is a notable example of classical Romanticism, depicting a scene from ancient Roman life with affluent Roman patrons admiring bronze and marble sculptures, including a Neoclassical bronze of a poet and a marble depiction of the Laocoön group.

Condition

Good condition, glossiness seen in pictures is from resin coating reflections and is not paint loss.
