Antique oil on board genre painting depicting a man in 18th century Colonial clothing and wig, seated in a chair reading a book in his study. Gilt wood & composite frame with foliate details.

Condition

Wear from age, paint loss, fading, chipping to frame, original painting cut out and board used as a backing, which is now visible. not sure if it was intended to conceal this piece, or if it was used as a backing, or if someone just framed it this way.
