Rare vintage 1970's sterling silver commemorative coin. Face: Portrait of architect Elias Holl, flanked with dates 1573 / 1646, surrounded by the words "Baumeister in Augsburg 1573 Elias Holl 1973." Obverse shows the facade of a building surrounded by the words "Siegelhaus in Augsburg Erbaut 1604-1606" and 925 sterling mark.

This 925 silver medal in the highest proof quality was issued in 1973 to commemorate the 400th birthday of Elias Holl, a master builder in Augsburg. The obverse depicts Augsburg's town hall, built between 1615 and 1620.

"Elias Holl was born in Augsburg (Germany) on February 28, 1573 and died in Augsburg on January 6, 1646 at the age of 76. Important architect of early German Baroque architecture.
