Description

Vintage reproduction piggy bank after an original by Russell Frisbie and manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Company. It depicts the legendary Swiss hero William Tell shooting an apple from his son's head with a bow and arrow in front of a castle; the action is triggered by pressing the soldier's foot, which launches the coin towards the apple and into the bank. The bank was granted a patent on June 23, 1896, and was made to encourage children to save money by making the activity entertaining.
