Description
An exceptional banded mahogany China Display Cabinet or Bookcase by Union National, circa 1940s. Designed in George III styling with a beautiful interlaced open pediment crown with dentil molding over a stepback display portion showcasing diamond pattern fretwork. The interior has three shelves with plate grooves.
The lower side of the cabinet has two doors with circular banding set between chamfered stiles with foliate carving and fluting towards the base. Interior open to one shelf. The cabinet base is supported by bracket feet.
Union National, formerly Union Furniture, was a furniture manufacturer known for high-grade dining room and library furniture. It operated from 1901 to 1994. They operated out of Jamestown, New York, and specialized in beautiful reproductions.
