Circa 1980's watchman's clock produced by Lathem Time Recorder Company of Atlanta, GA. Model 76-E. Ser. 29369. Metal body with leather carrying case and adjustable shoulder strap. Powered with 1.5V D size battery (not tested). Includes set of two keys for opening clock.
Night-watchmen carried clocks of this type as they patrol their rounds, inserting keys found at each station into an opening at the bottom of the clock, which punched a mark into a wheel of paper inside, to show that they had been at each station and at what time.
