Antique 19th Century English Regency Cheval Mirror. Features a shield shaped made from mahogany with a beveled glass plate set on a swivel between round columns supported by downswept legs and claw feet. The mirror is accented by ornate carved and scrolled trim, beeding and neoclassical ormolu. A wonderful design element that is perfect for a dressing room, closet or bedroom.
The Cheval mirror was invented in France during the reign of Louis XVI towards the end of the 18th Century. The name came from the four feet of the base which resemble a horse. The word Cheval translates to "Horse" in French.
