Vintage late 20th century print of "Retirement Party for Old Thunderbird" by Keith Ferris from the U.S. Air Force Art Collection. Based on the mural "Fortresses Under Fire" painted in 1975 at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, Washington, DC and depicts the 70th mission of Thunderbird on August 15, 1944 to Wiesbaden, Germany. This is the B-17 that Lt. Vern Moncur flew from Molesworth during WWII. LT Vern Moncur is the father of Gary Moncur who will speak to the JAC on June 5th. A copy of the painting is in the 303rd Bomb Group (Heavy) Memorial Building (Bldg 100) on RAF Molesworth. (Source: 501st Combat Support Wing) Beveled plain wood frame.
