Maharam was founded in 1902 by Louis Maharam, a Russian immigrant. Through the generations, Maharam evolved from a source of theatrical textiles for costume and set design in the 1940s to a pioneer of performance-driven textiles for commercial interiors in the '60s.
Bavaria is the result of Maharam's first textile collaboration with Studio Job. Formed in 2000 by Design Academy Eindhoven graduates Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel, Studio Job is an Antwerp and Netherlands-based studio that employs exceptional materials and an uncommonly high level of craftsmanship that challenges modern production techniques.
