Mid to late 20th century lot of 11 assorted silverplate piece including six small salt shakers / pepper pots, one cobalt glass lined shaker, one medium candy dish, one small candy dish (engraved "Mother-Daughter Tournament Moraine Country Club Dayton Ohio MCC 1964), one cobalt glass lined salt cellar, and one spoon rest. Made in England / Reed & Barton / The Sheffield Silver Co / Cheltenham & Co.

"Reed & Barton was originally founded as Babbitt & Crossman in Taunton, Massachusetts, in 1824. Babbitt & Crossman, which produced the first Britannia ware in the United States, was first owned by Isaac Babbitt and William Ware Crossman. The name Babbitt, Crossman & Company was used until 1829 when Crossman left to join another partnership. The company was slowly losing money, so the failing company was eventually purchased by Henry G. Reed and business partner Charles E. Barton. Babbitt moved to Boston in 1834 and by 1837 the company was known as Reed & Barton.
