Late 20th cigar-box shaped pine trinket / jewelry box. Square form; lid features a ceramic tile hand painted with an iznik style Middle Eastern / Turskish moftif of a bird on a flowering plant in blues, brown and yellow. Scalloped latch closure. Interior and base lined with red felt.

Iznik is a town in northwestern Turkey that was the main center for ceramic tile and tableware production in the Ottoman Empire from the mid-14th century until the end of the 17th century. The town is named after the ceramic objects with this type of decoration, which were first made there between 400 and 600 years ago
