An exceptional King size canopy bed by Harden Furniture; circa 1980s. Drawing inspiration from Italian and Neoclassical styling with a hint of French Empire flare. Made from solid Cherry with marquetry inlaid head and footboards in a diamond pattern with cross banding. The post are neatly carved with a spiraled acanthus and fluted design. The canopy perfectly frames the bed with diamond carved corners, applied ormolu and acorn finials. The frame includes cross rails and is supported by toupie feet. A remarkable example of master craftmanship. Marked Harden 1944.
Harden was founded in 1844 by Charles S. Harden. It was one of the oldest family-owned and operated furniture manufacturers in the United States. After 175 years of business, the company ceased operations in 2018
