“Leroy Tony Cross died October 16, 2016. Born in Oakland, Maryland, March 1927, to Otis and Adraine Cross. He lived in Akron until moving to Cuyahoga Falls in 1958. Attended Betty Jane Grad School and graduated from Hower Vocational High School. Joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. Graduated from Goodyear Apprentice School and worked at Goodyear as a journeyman machinist for 42 years before retiring in 1992. Married to Elizabeth Cochran in 1949. Was president of the Whiskey Painters of America for eight years. He taught watercolor painting at Akron University, Massillon Museum, and for many years, at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center.”
