Antique Chinese Kitchen cabinet or cupboard. Made from Elm with intricate fretwork and finish in red, circa late 19th century. Features mortise and tenon joints, 3 drawers, adjustable lower panels and removable top doors.
Originally designed to circulate air around fruits and vegetables without letting in light. The lower compartments housed live chickens and other fowl, destined for dinner. Today these cabinets are great for storage in the dining room or they are often seen used in the bedroom as wardrobes or linen presses. This cabinet features glass shelves that rest on top of the original wooden ones allowing it to be used as a china cabinet or dry bar.
