Description

""Light Coming on the Plains"" by Cameron Zebrun. Mixed media oil on wood panels. Cameron is a renaissance man inspired by the natural world to create sculpture, photographs, paintings and other objects that often defy such neat categorization. “The essences of nature’s abstract forms,” he says, “are the raw material for my art.” His curiosity to dive deep has led him into deserts, glacial basins, forests, mountains, river deltas and other ecosystem. He transforms his observations into “art that maps the fluid, non-linear experience of the cycles of nature—cycles that continuously invite the opportunity for revelation and discovery,” he explains.
Sleek lines, elegant curves, compelling forms, inviting textures and seductive colors derived from nature are characteristics of Cameron’s work. “I approach nature with a sense of wonder and keen perception,” he says. “This is how I invite viewers to experience my work. Each object is an opportunity to chart one’s own course, mining the abstract for glimpses of actual places. My desire is to solicit a contemplative frame of mind.” Such sciences as cartography, geography and topography also play important roles in his work.
Cameron’s work has been exhibited across the U.S. His work also lives in many private collections, and has been collected by the Minnesota Museum of American Art in St. Paul, Minnesota and the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in Madison, Wisconsin.

Condition

Good overall, some wear and distressing, missing what appears to be a light in bottom right cubbie.
