Description

Baker Furniture Historic Charleston Collection Anniversary table. Referred to as the Neoclassic work table, this beautiful federal style table is made from mahogany with two compartments along the top and a banded inlay apron leading to tapered legs. Some Baker History: Operating for over a century, Baker Furniture was established in 1890 in Allegan, Michigan by Siebe Baker, an immigrant from the Netherlands, Baker initially began as a door and cabinet shop, but by the 1920s had begun offering collections of handcrafted modern and art deco furniture. Over the course of the following decades, Baker expanded its practice drastically, growing to include an extensive upholstery division and producing comprehensive collections of furniture. Most notable of their early collections were those inspired by classic English and Chinese silhouettes and motifs. Since then, Baker has continued to draw inspiration from international styles, including French provincial, Danish modern, and others – all executed with the same allegiance to craftsmanship and quality. Baker’s iconic stature within the realm of home furnishings has led to many high-profile collaborations with leading designers, including Barbara Barry, Thomas Pheasant, and Bill Sofield. Today, Baker offers pieces in a multitude of styles from traditional to contemporary, mooring any interior design scheme.
