A gorgeous example of a Sellers Kitchen Cabinet. Sellers was the first furniture manufacturing company to specialize in the production of Hoosier style cabinets. Their roots date back to 1898 in Elwood, Indiana. They later moved to New Castle, Indiana and remained in business until 1949.

At the time Hoosier cabinets were more than just a cabinet; they were a must-have in most homes. The cabinets not only stored kitchen staples like flour and sugar, they also held workable utensils inside. Most Hoosier cabinets housed flour sifters, Lazy Susans for spices, bread boxes, and even meat grinders.

The typical Hoosier cabinet had a large base, sometimes on casters, with a pull out work surface and several drawers. The top was narrower and had several cabinets and drawers and usually one compartment had a roll-top or tambour. Most were made of oak.

This beautiful example has an enameled pullout in addition to a meat grinder, slag glass windows and an adjustable towel hanging bar. The cabinet opens to plenty of space for utensils and even has a unique feature that allows the lower shelf to draw outward when the cabinet door is pulled open. A gorgeous piece of craftsmanship that will make a perfect addition to any setting.

Condition

Very Good Overall Condition. Light distressing from use. When work surface is pulled completely out, you will notice the backside is darker than the front.
