Description
Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796-1875) was active and live in France. Born in Paris, and Known for tonalist landscape painting. Jean enrolled into the studio of Achille-Etna Michallon at the age of 26, where he began his landscape painting. Towards the end of his career he felt the need to rival the camera and began painting in the manor of such photographs with a silver tone. This did not take and he soon went back to his well known landscapes.
He was a gentleman, and used his wealth to help others. Died in 1875 of stomach Cancer.
This piece, A Morning's Dance of Nymphs is one of his more traditional landscapes. Circa 1850s. Exquisitelycolored with detailed trees and vivid flowers. Signed along the bottom right in addition to a paper label on the upper back portion of the canvas. Framed in French styling with a gold-tone.
