Description

Hugo Vilfred Pedersen
(1870-1959) Denmark

Danish painter and illustrator Hugo Vilfred Pedersen was a student of B. Schröder and F. Henningsen. In 1895 he traveled to Sumatra, Java, Malaysia and Singapore, where he made portrait sketches of the people he saw, later to be published in the bookDoor den Oost-Inischen Archipel. Pederson spent many years in India and portrayed the Maharaja of Burdwan while there.

Here we have an amazing early 20th century work from Hugo from his time spent in India. The canvas shows age and character. Depicts a palace still life scene filled with royal items. A Gold Crown can be seen in the middle beside a Maharaja Meditating Buddha. In the background Hare high relief gold plaques as well as a bird statue. An authentic piece rich in color that will make a great addition to your collection. In the last photo an auction result can be seen of his work. The piece is smaller, but indicative of the character of his Artwork.
