John Arthur Lomax was active/lived in UK and was known for figure, genre paintings. John was born in Manchester and studied in Stuttgart as well as the Munich Academy, before returning to Manchester. His subjects were mostly historical in nature. Focusing mostly on dramatic civil war scenes. An amazing artist helping us relive the past. In 2015, his work titled "Ein Seltener Stich" or "A Rare Sting" sold for $12,010 at an auction in Vienna. The last photo in the listing references this piece. It was a lot smaller than the piece we have listed here, but similar in time frame and character.
