Born in Streeter, IL on January 22, 1834. George Simons moved to Council Bluffs, IA at an early age. By 1854 he was active as a painter and photographer of historical subjects of Iowa and eastern Nebraska, such as Pawnee villages, Mormon caravans, trading posts, and steamboat landings.
