This is an amazing piece from the English cartographer Herman Moll. The map is a map of Europe and was dedicated to Caroline of Ansbach the wife of George II and Queen of Great Britain. Thisd is an absolutely beautiful piece and it would make a wonderful addition to your home or collection.

This edition was published by J. Bowles, T. Bowles, P. Overton, J. King, in London c.1730.

Moll's large format map of Europe, dedicated to Queen Caroline, queen consort of King George II, whose portrait appears in the title dedication cartouche along with allegorical figures representing the four continents.
Despite the date of 1708 in the imprint, Caroline became queen in 1727. In the original state the portrait and dedication was to Queen Anne and published by Herman Moll in his New and Compleat Atlas.

Moll was a great admirer of Peter the Great and in the bottom right is a inset map showing the canal built by Peter the Great of Russia enabling boats to cross between the Volga and the Don, thus connecting the Caspian and Black Seas.

Moll's map of Europe is a good example of his cartographic style: large scale, clear, bold.
